Monitoring and compliance
We monitor the legal cultivation, production and manufacture of controlled drugs. We have compliance activities like inspections, fines (infringement notices) and court action.
Our Authorised Inspectors monitor licence and permit holders who cultivate, produce and manufacture narcotic drugs. Inspections seek to increase the knowledge of licence and permit holders to meet their regulatory obligations and to prevent any diversion of narcotic drugs away from the regulated supply chain and into the illegal market.
We also issue fines through infringement notices when we believe there has been an offence against the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 (the Act). We save our strongest actions, such as criminal prosecution, for serious or high-risk non-compliance.
