Travelling with kava for personal use

Find out the rules for bringing kava into Australia for personal use, including quantity limits and traveller requirements.

There is currently an exemption that allows incoming passengers (18 years or over) to bring up to 4kg of kava (powder) into Australia in their accompanied baggage.

Note that restrictions in the Northern Territory mean that kava may not be brought into this jurisdiction. See our Relevant authorities page for more information.
