Apply for a permit to import precursor substances

Apply for a permit to import precursor substances into Australia, including eligibility, application requirements, fees and permit conditions.

Certain precursor substances are controlled under the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956. To import these substances into Australia, you must hold a valid import licence and obtain a permit for each shipment.

A permit authorises a specific substance, quantity and overseas exporter. A new permit is generally required for each shipment.
