MedTEC Services Pty Ltd fined $39,600 for alleged breaches of the Narcotic Drugs Act

Published

The Office of Drug Control (ODC) has given two infringement notices totalling $39,600 to South Australian-based company MedTEC Services Pty Ltd (MedTEC) for alleged breaches of its medicinal cannabis licence.

It is alleged that MedTEC failed to meet its obligations under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 (the Act) by failing to maintain its licensed premises consistent with approved site plans included in its licence and for conducting medicinal cannabis activities in areas not yet approved for authorised activities.

Licence holders must understand and comply with their responsibilities under the Act and all licence conditions.

Consequences for non-compliance with relevant laws include not only financial penalties but could also lead to civil or criminal proceedings being brought against those who fail to meet their obligations.

If you suspect non-compliance in relation to medicinal cannabis cultivation or manufacture, you can report illegal or questionable practices to the ODC via its online tip-off form.
