Cannoperations Pty Ltd fined $19,800 for alleged breaches of the Narcotic Drugs Act

Published

The Office of Drug Control (ODC) has given an infringement notice totalling $19,800 to Victorian-based company Cannoperations Pty Ltd (Cannoperations) for an alleged breach of its medicinal cannabis licence.

It is alleged that Cannoperations failed to meet its obligations under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 (the Act) by failing to maintain at all times a system of security that prevents illegal or unauthorised removal of cannabis from the location where the activities authorised by the licence are undertaken.

Licence holders must understand and comply with their responsibilities under the Act and all licence conditions.

Consequences for non-compliance with relevant laws include not only financial penalties but could also lead to civil or criminal proceedings being brought against those who fail to meet their obligations.

If you suspect non-compliance in relation to medicinal cannabis cultivation or manufacture, you can report illegal or questionable practices to the ODC via its online tip-off form.
