This information is for applicants who intend to apply for a medicinal cannabis licence (cultivation, production and/or research).
What the licence allows you to do
This licence authorises the
- cultivation (the growing of cannabis plants),
- production (the separation of cannabis and cannabis resin), and/or
- manufacture (transforming cannabis and cannabis resin into a cannabis drug or extract).

How to apply
Apply online
Use this online smart form to apply for a licence authorising cultivation, production and/or manufacture activities relating to cannabis for medicinal or scientific purposes.
Please note, the online form will remain active for 14 days after each saved activity. Opening the form without entering new information will not keep it active. The system will remove the inactive/unsaved form after 14 days.
The online form will undergo maintenance each Thursday from 5pm until 9pm and will be unavailable during this time.
Paper applications
Paper (flat) forms for medicinal cannabis licence applications will only be accepted in rare cases and you must contact MCS.application@health.gov.au should you wish to apply using flat forms.
Please note that completing your application via the online smart form will ensure timely submission.
